Two Rock Nerds...

ADAM: "If the populace listened to BOC... it might be like looking at the face of God.

AL: ...[BOC] played all their hits but it didn't end there. They seemed to have played every single song of theirs that I love, which is almost all of them (pre-1985). Time must have stopped while they rocked through seemingly dozens of songs. I had not felt such a natural high since my first Rush concert. Or that time I huffed spray paint until I saw leprechauns.

The amazing night didn't end there. After the show, the bands gathered at the merch tables and signed autographs. To this day, I have a "Total Recall Tour" shirt with the signatures from Uriah Heap and Wishbone Ash. (BOC were swamped and I was in a hurry to catch my ride.)

Sadly, very few people were there... In the 10,000 seater, only 350 people showed up. To add insult to injury, Shari Lewis and Lambchop played there the next three consecutive nights to sold out audiences.

How about you?

JF: My first BOC live encounter was in Fort Worth Texas in 1998. It was a tiny theater and it was only about 1/2 full. My two friends and I were the youngest peeps there by about 10 years on average. All the awesome die-hard fans looked like either air conditioner repairmen or engineering students. You could tell that most of these guys hadn't changed their "look" since 1975. There were also like 10 or 11 denim jackets and vests with elaborate hand painted BOC designs on the back. This one guy had a design that combined 4 different album covers. It was awesome!

Then they played...At first they ran through stuff that I pretty much expected to hear (with amazing power and zeal for guys who have been playing the same songs for over 25 years) but about halfway through the set, it went from amazing to un-fucking-believable. They played "Flaming Telepaths" followed by "Then Came The Last Days of May" followed by "Joan Crawford" it was like a triple shot of rock from the gods!!! The show got better and better after that. I can't remember much more of the set because when they played "OD'd on Life Itself", I did.
