Keith Coogan Requests Starring Role in Another "Babysitter Flick"
by brandon campbell

LOS ANGELES - In efforts to reestablish his name in Hollywood, 32 year old actor Keith Coogan has taken to desperate pleas with his agent to find him a starring role in another wacky Babysitter film, sources reported Monday.

"People loved my Babysitter movies. I was starting to build a name for myself and get recognized in public," said Coogan, known only for his pubescent roles in Adventures in Babysitting (1987) and Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991). "I was awesome in those movies. My lines were funny to begin with, but when I fleshed the characters out, they really shined."

Publicists have told reporters that Mr. Coogan is fighting a very typical battle with the inevitable hardships of fame, and that if any producers are considering production of a wacky Babysitter movie, to "please, please, for the love of God, let Keith star as the bumbling, ill-tempered teen who helps save the day in the end."

Coogan believes that America needs Babysitter movies "now, more than ever."

"I'm starting to think I'm not really famous anymore," Coogan told reporters. "I think it's just 'cause no one is making Babysitter movies now. I don't know why, I mean, everyone loves movies about a Babysitter situation gone-wrong."

When asked if he is confident that he would be chosen as a lead in a Babysitter film, if any were being made, Coogan said, "Fuckin' A, I am. I was in Don't Tell Mom [the Babysitter's Dead] and Adventures [in Babysitting], wasn't I? Remember in Adventures when I was like, 'Don't FUCK with the Babysitter!' and that dude was all like, 'whoa,' all scared and shit..."

Despite Coogan's confidence in his Babysitter Movie popularity, the actor was not offered roles in "The Babysitter" (1995), or TV Movie "My Life as a Babysitter" (1990). Coogan responded to the reminder by saying, "Yeah, but did anyone go see those movies? EXACTLY!!"

"My Babysitter movies were the awesomest," Coogan continued. "Remember in Don't Tell when Christina [Applegate] was like, 'you worthless little punk,' and I was like, 'PMS city!'"

As the actor has recently broadened his resume with a Set Director's credit for the indie film comedy "Dreamers" (2000), Coogan has told sources that he is thinking about "just fucking making my own Babysitter movie."

"I could do it," Coogan said. "You know, an actor picks up the ropes of writing and directing just from being on the set enough. When I did 'In the Army Now,' Daniel Petrie Jr. let me sit behind that big camera on wheels and I came up with some cool as Hell shots. An actor is an artist, and an artist is what it takes to plot the scenes and camera angles. No one saw 'In the Army Now,' but I don't blame them. It wasn't even about a Babysitter."
