Lunch?
Has this ever happened to you? I just called the Toastie's in Union Square to order lunch and the guy on the other end of the phone didn't speak English very well, but his accent also didn't resemble anything I'd ever heard. He basically sounded like Animal from the Muppets meets the Hamburgler. I swear I thought someone was playing a practical joke on me. My conversation went something like this:

Guy: Robble robble glargh eleven help you?
Me:
Yes, I need to place an order for delivery.

Guy: Samble durk darnell okay. Go 'head.
Me:
Um... okay, what information do you need first?

Guy: San gangy do doo address?
Me:
29 east nineteenth street, fourth floor.

Guy: (repeating) "Chan chowie, vaccuum piece, fourth floor?"
Me:
Yes?

Guy: Kay now serpent gilligan phone number?
Me:
(I give him my phone number...)

Guy: Hargut times order?
Me:
Okay, I'd like the turkey club wrap, please - the special.

Guy (in the most perfect proper British accent): A number three?
Me:
Yeah! Also, what soup do you have today?

Guy: Gargle zip, zandaddy ZZ Top, split pea, charo lovebabies, and uh... oh, mangjittle span clowpan.
Me:
Okay - I'll have a small chicken noodle.

Guy: Charo lovebabies?
Me:
(sigh...) Yes.

Look Who's NOT Talking (but instead, gesturing wildly!)
Today in the Hollywood Reporter: "AMC said Monday that it has greenlighted the star-laden game show "Celebrity Charades" from executive producers Bob Balaban, Chad Lowe and Hilary Swank."

"It'll be like Win, Lose or Draw without all the drawing! We'll call it Win, Lose..."
